Eureka-Springs
is a historic, picturesque tourist town located in the Ozark Mountains of northwest Arkansas. As of the 2010 census, the population was 2,073 residents. The entire city of Eureka Springs is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and it's a unique one-of-a-kind place to experience. The streets of Eureka Springs are steep and winding and lined with Victorian-era cottages and mansions. The old commercial section of the city has an alpine feeling with its backdrop of mountains, hilly streets and well-preserved Victorian buildings. Most of the buildings are constructed of local stone and lie along streets that curve around the hills and rise and fall with the topography in a five-mile long loop. Eureka Springs has been selected as one of "Americas Distinctive Destinations by the National Trust for Historic Preservation." The town has been dubbed "The Little Switzerland of America," and also "The Stairstep Town." A variety of special events are held in Eureka Springs throughout the year. These include a May Festival of the Arts, The Eureka Springs Food & Wine Festival in the fall, an Annual Halloween Festival and the Eureka Mardi Gras Extravaganza. There are also four annual gay and lesbian events called Diversity Weekends held in Eureka Springs. The city offers over 50 shops and art galleries, every type of restaurant from fine dining to diners, historic downtown hotels and bed and breakfast inns. Eureka Springs is located at the heart of the Arkansas Art Trail, home to more than 400 working artists, writers, and musicians.

Northwest Arkansas has a moderate climate with four distinct season. Summers are generally very hot and humid,
springs and autumns are warm and pleasant, winter offers both sunshine and snowfall. The average winter temperature is 45 degrees and the average summer temperature is about 92 degrees. Precipitation is usually well distributed throughout the year. One or more snowfalls occur each winter but the snow cover usually only remains for a few days. Thunderstorms are common, especially in spring. The state of Arkansas lies within Tornado Alley and is known for its extreme storms and tornadoes, some of the most severe in the nation. An average of 26 such storms are experienced each year. Elevation in this region is 1,359 above sea level.
