Lakeview
is a small community located in Baxter County in north-central Arkansas. As of the 2010 census, the population was 883 residents. Lakeview is set amid the Ozark Mountains near Norfork Lake and Bull Shoals Lake and 3 rivers. This makes it a popular recreational spot. The quiet town of Lakeview offers an abundance of things to do; fishing, swimming, canoeing, hiking, camping, birding and wildlife viewing and picnicking. The Buffalo National River, the White River and the North Fork River feature world-class fishing for bass, crappie, walleye, trout and stripers. The private community of Mountain Home is nearby, which has been named an "Undiscovered Haven" by Retire Magazine. Bull Shoals Lake has miles of lake arms and coves perfect for swimming, boating, fishing and other water sports. There are over 20 developed parks around the shoreline that provide campgrounds, boat launches, swim areas, and marinas. It's also home to Bull Shoals-White River State Park - a 725-acre park located above and below the dam. Norfork Lake covers 22,000 acres and has more than 550 miles of shoreline. There are 19 parks located around Norfork Lake, and commercial docks on Norfork Lake provide boats, motors, diving equipment, and guides to the lake. Lakeview sits amid all this beauty and recreation, making it a prime vacation destination.

North-central Arkansas, near the Missouri border, lies the Ozark Plateau, an area of rugged hills and deep valleys. It's both the coolest and the driest part of the state, and the seasons are more distinct here than in other areas of the state. The average January temperature is 34.9, and the average July temperature of 79. This area receives an average of 45.20 inches of precipitation each year. More snow falls each winter in this part of the state than in any other. Summers are hot, hazy and humid, with frequent thunderstorms. Arkansas is also prone to weather extremes, such as tornadoes and receives on average 26 each year. It's far enough away from the Gulf Coast to be safe from a direct hit from a hurricane. However, it can get the remnants of a tropical system which dumps tremendous amounts of rain in a short time and may spawn smaller tornadoes.
