Lake-Greeson is located on the Little Missouri River approximately six miles north of Murfreesboro in southwest Arkansas. The lake is well-known for its fishing and other recreation and its beautiful scenery. Lake Greeson is surrounded by 15 parks that offer camping, fishing, boating, biking, swimming and more. Lake Greeson was formed in 1950 when the Narrows Dam was built on the Little Missouri River. The lake has great fishing for striped bass, black bass, crappie, bream, catfish, white bass and smallmouth bass. It's also stocked with northern pike and walleye. The Little Missouri River, above and below Lake Greeson, is stocked with rainbow trout. Lake Greeson and the surrounding parks offer 416 campsites and 102 picnic sites. There are houseboat and kayak rentals, 6 swimming areas, playgrounds, hiking and ATV trails, 10 boat ramps and several marinas. There are also lots of motels and other places to stay nearby. The lake itself has 134 miles of shoreline surrounded by over 15,000 acres of forestland. The average depth of the lake is 40 feet and 60 feet in much of the river channel. It's 150 feet at its deepest level. Average depth of 40 ft. A total of 45 miles of walking, nature and cycle trails can be enjoyed in the area surrounding the lake. Just south of Lake Greeson is Crater of Diamonds State Park, which has the only public diamond field in the world where visitors can search for the gems and keep their finds.
